The Secret of a Great Custom Database Application
Well, perhaps it is really no secret at all, but InterSight has learned
over the last eight years that any successul custom database application solves
users' real problems, actually reduces users' workloads and is simultaneously easy to
understand, easy to use and easy to change.
Typical users, however, are often at a great disadvantage
when verbalizing their problems (and, therefore, the application's desired features) until
after they sit down and play with some working software. This places great importance
on creating early prototypes to work out all the important user requirements and
user interface issues. Our secret tool? FileMaker Pro: a powerful relational
database.

InterSight Creates Databases That Grow With You
At InterSight, we often use FileMaker Pro to take the mystery out
creating custom databases. For applications with 200 or fewer simultaneous
users (i.e. nearly all workgroup applications) FileMaker Pro Client and
Server software are excellent low-cost choices for both prototyping
and final deployment.
For larger applications, the learning from the FileMaker Pro prototypes
makes coding the final application in Oracle, MS SQL Server or other
Enterprise SQL databases proceed much faster and much more cost effectively.

The applications featured above and to the left have served
as the cornerstone for InterSight's first Automated Publishing
applications at Levi Strauss & Co. and Medtronic Vascular. Each of
these applications minimize the decisions that users need to make
in order to specify the contents of their respective catalog pages.
The applications automate the assignment of nearly all images and
product descriptions behind the scenes.
Whether your needs are large or small, InterSight has
the expertise to build custom database solutions that are
easy to use, solve real problems and can adapt as your needs
change. |
